Decade – Brainfreeze

As far as singles off your first album go, Brainfreeze by Decade is a good example of how to do it.

Lyrically, the song is about “having low thoughts and how you should deal with them” – so they are starting with big subjects. Hopefully their attraction to these won’t slow down as it would be a shame if they descended to rock-by-numbers.

Stylistically, they do owe quite a large debt to early-2000 American bands, but that should not be held against them. Indeed, the combination of big hooks, big riffs, harmonised vocals and strong subject matter should tick quite a few boxes.

Set for release on the 26th

of August, which is immediately after they play the “Lock Up Stage” at Reading and Leeds respectively. In addition to the festival dates, they are also on tour with Tonight Alive through September and October.
