Brigitte Aphrodite – Creshendorious

Admittedly, most tracks and albums I write about are more of the singing kind, rather than the spoken kind. With Creshendorious I am more than happy to write about this. Brigitte Aphrodite is a singer, poet, songwriter and feminist artist, whose latest single, and musical, draws inspiration from depression. The musical itself is called My Beautiful Black Dog, which for those who may not be informed about such things, refers to Churchill’s characterisation of his depression as a black dog.

Turning back to the single, it’s a vessel that allows Aphrodite to wax lyrical about depression. At turns funny, surreal and insightful, it nevertheless remains brutally honest – and beautiful.

Aphrodite is currently performing the musical at the Edinburgh Festival, so if you find yourself around those parts take a walk over.
