NYC duo Tempers – better known to their parents as Jasmine Golestaneh and Eddie Cooper – have released a new video for their single Strange Harvest ahead of the release of their next E.P. Fundamental Fantasy, which is due on the 24th of February.
Musically speaking, the track is dominated by the drum machine pounding an incessant beat that forms its foundation. Electronic bass, guitars and echo are layered on top of each other to create a dark atmosphere that never turns oppressive. Vocally, Golestaneh’s vocals soar above the maelstrom and provide a counterpoint to the dark maelstrom.
Visually stunning, the video is in black and white and comes with a health warning:
WARNING: This video may potentially trigger seizures for people with photosensitive epilepsy. Viewer discretion is advised.
If you can stand it, the strobing of Golestaneh singing on top of city-, nature-, and social-scales is astounding and adds to the darkness. The murmurations of the birds in this video looks fantastic.
I’ve had it on repeat for about 20 minutes now; this bodes well for Fundamental Fantasy which will be released on The Vinyl Factory.
